By Lorz Motorsports / M.P.H. Promotions
Midlothian, Illinois (Thursday, July 17, 2008): Canadian teenager,
Jordan Sims is ready to tackle the high-banks of Salem Speedway in
Salem, Indiana this weekend and will make his third career start
within the ASA Late Model Series Challenge Division.
The Trials 200 Presented by O'Reilly Auto Parts will also mark the
third trip together for Sims and Car Owner, Mike Lorz of Lorz
Motorsports. Lorz himself has some fond memories of the treacherous
high-banks that await his driver.
"We had some good runs there in our ARCA car back in the day from 1995
to 1999!" Remembered Lorz. "We've been working hard getting Jordan's
car back together after that crash at Mansfield, man that was a bad
deal!" He added.
"Jordan was doing a great job moving through the field until a crash
in front of him happened, he had no place to go plus got pushed from
behind into the other cars." He Explained. "Jordan has done a great
job in the only two races he had this year. It's just a matter of time
this kid is going to have some good finishes." Lorz ended.
In two races so far with Lorz Motorsports, Sims finished 17th at
Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan back on June 14th and was credited
with a 21st place finish after his incident with 16-year-old Blake
Brown.
"Getting wrecked at Mansfield was a pretty big disappointment. We had
such an awesome car and we were making our way through the field and
then the wreck." Sims added. "It really sucked getting taken out that
early. It sucked that qualifying got rained out too because we easily
had a Top 10 car."
The 18-year-old from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario / Canada is positive
though heading to the historic Salem, Indiana speed plant this
weekend. "There were a lot of positives coming out of Mansfield even
though we got wrecked. I'm really comfortable with the car now and Dan
(Crew Chief, Dan Lorz) and I are really working well together."
"Salem should be a good track for me. I've been practicing there on my
simulator so I feel pretty comfortable with it. Hopefully it shows
when we get to Salem." Sims continued. "I believe we are going to have
a really good car."
I can't say enough about the whole Lorz Motorsports crew, they work
their butts off and give me really good cars every weekend so im
really excited for Salem."
In Southern Indiana, Sims will pilot the #99 Lorz Motorsports
Chevrolet Monte Carlo with sponsorship from Sims Custom Countertops as
well as Atkins Performance Parts, Richelieu Hardware, M.P.H.
Promotions, and Jordan Sims Racing. During the remainder of the 2008
season, Sims will run a partial schedule within the ASALMS Challenge
and Northern Divisions.
